The Alternative Learning System (ALS) has been providing education to individuals who have not had the opportunity to attend formal schooling. In line with this, two community learning centers were recently established to help provide education to more individuals in Bancal Extension Elementary School and Barangay Zamora. The opening of these centers happened last March 3, 2023, and March 17, 2023, respectively.

The creation of these community learning centers represents a significant advancement in the effort to educate those who have been left behind by the standard formal education system. The learning centers offer an alternate method of instruction that is more adaptive and flexible in order to better meet the needs of the students. The centers are also anticipated to assist in lowering the dropout rate and offer education to people who, for a variety of reasons, are unable to attend school.

Bancal Extension Elementary School and Barangay Zamora Community Learning Center were established in partnership with the Alternative Learning System of SDO City of Meycauayan, the local government unit, and other stakeholders who recognized the need to provide education to the out-of-school youth and adults. The learning center is staffed by highly competent ALS Teachers who are committed to providing quality education to learners. The center’s programs are designed to help learners gain basic literacy and numeracy skills, and other skills and knowledge that are relevant to their everyday lives, such as financial literacy, communication skills, and entrepreneurship.

The success of these community learning centers depends on the support of the community and other stakeholders. It is important for the government, private organizations, and concerned citizens to support these centers in any way they can. By doing so, they can help ensure that more individuals have access to education and the opportunity to improve their lives.
